A Sunday that isn't like the other ones
Here is the shape of it. On September 13th the doors at The Link open at two in the afternoon and stay open until six.
Juliette Angelo plays. Aquile plays. DC Martinez hosts the whole thing. Prairie Wife and Brandi Sorrensen work the mic between sets. Four hours, one building, and a room full of people your age.
That is the youth side of the day.
At the same time, in the same building, there is a session built for parents. Ryan Heib from Internet Crimes Against Children and Terri Markham from Uprising Wyoming are running workshops on keeping kids safe online and off. Child care is provided for parents who sit in on it.
So a family can pull up at two o'clock and split into the two rooms that actually make sense for them. Nobody waits in a hallway. Nobody gets dragged to something built for somebody else.
Casper Community Churches put this together, and it is happening at The Link, the Casper Youth for Christ building at 353 W A Street.

The other room
If you are dropping a teenager off at two o'clock, you have four hours. There is a room upstairs from that decision.
The parent education session runs in the same window as the rally, in the same building, and it is about one subject: how to keep young people safe on and offline. It is a workshop, so it is built around questions rather than a lecture.
Ryan Heib is speaking. He works with Internet Crimes Against Children, the ICAC program. Terri Markham is speaking as well, from Uprising Wyoming.
Child care is provided for parents who attend, so a younger sibling is not a reason to skip it.
You do not need a background in any of this. Most parents in the room will be there for the same reason you are, which is that the internet moved faster than the advice about it did.
Why a workshop instead of a talk
A lecture gives you information. A workshop gives you somewhere to put it. The difference matters here because the questions parents actually have are specific and awkward, and they rarely get asked in a room where nobody is allowed to interrupt.
The format also means you leave with something. Not a handout you lose in the car, but an idea of what you are going to change on Monday.
Bring your actual questions
The ones worth asking are usually the ones that feel too basic to say out loud. What app is that. Should I be reading the messages. What do I do about the group chat. Who do I call if something has already happened.
Two people who work in this every day will be standing in the room. Use them.
